The Art Library collects and preserves books and reference materials dealing chiefly with modern and contemporary art. These materials are available for viewing by the general public free of change.
※The Art Library is closed on museum closing dates.
Books and other materials can only be viewed on the premises of the library. They cannot be borrowed or taken outside the museum. There are two kinds of materials, restricted and unrestricted. Unrestricted materials can be viewed freely while it is necessary to apply to view restricted materials, using the procedure explained below.
Many books, reference materials, exhibition catalogues, and current magazines and journals, in both Japanese and foreign languages, may be viewed without restriction.
(applications accepted between 10:00-17:00)
Some books, exhibition catalogues, and back numbers of magazines are kept in the storage area. It is necessary to apply in order to view these materials. Please find the desired materials on the search computer or in the catalogue, full out an application form, and present it at the reference desk. It is possible to apply for five items at a time.
