「MOT Annual 2019 Echo after Echo : Summoned Voices, New Shadows」digest edition(about 12min)

MOT Annual is a group exhibition that seeks to invite inquiry and discussion by focusing on a particular aspect of contemporary art. The 15th installment of the exhibition addresses the fundamental question “why do people make things?” through exploring the works of artists who correspond with the existing worlds of image, language, history, and materials as portents for expression.

"Drawing Orchestra" was invented by Hiraku Suzuki and Daijiro Ohara. Eight performers from different backgrounds such as drawing, typography, poetry, photography, dance, performance art, graffiti, and digital media gather to generate a collaborative space through the act of "drawing" lines. What happens when the lines that they create overlap in real time through video and sound? It is a radical endeavour by the artists to cross over existing genres.

Performance Session Gozo Yoshimasu × Kukangendai(about 50min)

A poet , Yoshimasu Gozo who is participated “MOT Annual 2019,” has been doing session with Kukangendai, an Japanese up-and-coming alternative rock band for years. They will take a new turn of their collaboration which is inspired by the Yoshimasu’s works of this exhibition.

Performance Session Hiraku Suzuki × Akio Suzuki(about 40min)

December 15(Sun) 2019, 15:00-16:30 Museum of Contemporary Art Auditorium, Sunken Garden

Hiraku Suzuki who participated in “MOT Annual 2019” has been doing live drawing sessions with many musicians since the early days of his career. This time he will explore deeper resonances with Akio Suzuki, a sound art pioneer who Hiraku Suzuki has collaborated with frequently.
