Synchronic Constellation: Cross-boundary Perspectives in Art
This exhibition reconsiders the reception and development of modernity within Japan and Taiwan through the angles of art, film, literature, music, and other artistic forms. In his film Le Moulin, director Huang Ya-Li innovatively depicted the cultural exchanges and conflicts surrounding “Le Moulin Poetry Society,” a modernist poetry society established in 1930s Taiwan under Japanese rule. Within a space that reflects the film’s experimental language, this exhibition seeks to re-observe modernity from a contemporary perspective by creating resonances across eras, regions, and genres.
