Born in Myanmar, and currently based there.
Working at the intersection of documentary photography and visual poetry, Ri creates lens-based works that reflect a deep engagement with social issues, including child labor, women's rights, the visibility of queer communities, and the sociopolitical situation of Myanmar.
This exhibition presents Ri's key geopolitical work series, Soulless City (2019), which explores the unsettling void of Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar's purpose-built capital, constructed on barren land under the military regime.
