Julia Sarisetiati & Ary "Jimged" Sendy

Both born in Jakarta, Indonesia and based there.
The artist and curator Julia Sarisetiati is affiliated with the art collective ruangrupa and is a co-initiator of Gudskul in Jakarta, a platform for contemporary art education and practice. Her work explores themes of migration, labor, and resilience, particularly in relation to the conditions and realities of contemporary migrant labor. Ary “Jimged” Sendy is an artist who uses photography and moving image with the commitment to documenting and preserving marginalized histories and lived experiences through dialogue and collaborative research. In this exhibition, they present their ongoing project Choreographed Knowledges, which explores the multifaceted realities and lived experiences of Indonesian migrant workers, focusing on those trained to work in the care sector in Japan.
